S. Truett CathyHe was the founder of the Chick-fil-A restaurant chain but known for so much more.  Cathy was a Godly man who taught Sunday school to 13-year-old boys for more than 50 years.

According to the founder’s faith, he incorporated Biblical principles into the work environment.  He mandated that all Chick-fil-A restaurants operate with a “Closed on Sunday” policy.  This policy allowed employees a day for family, worship, and rest.

WinShape Foundation

He founded the WinShape Foundation, in 1984, out of a desire to “shape winners” by helping young people succeed in life through scholarships and other youth support programs.  The foundation operated 13 long-term foster homes and a two-week Christian summer camp.

Through the foundation’s Leadership Scholarship Program, the Chick-fil-A restaurant chain has given more than $32 million in financial assistance to Chick-fil-A restaurant employees since 1973.

S. Truett Cathy began the popular restaurant chain in the Atlanta suburb of Hapeville in 1946, with it’s first restaurant called the Dwarf Grill.  Chick-fil-A surpassed $5 billion annual sales in 2013, and by 2014 there were more than 1,800 Chick-fil-A restaurants in 40 U.S. states and Washington D.C.

Today, they have the highest same-store sales and is the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States based on annual system-wide sales.

According to Mr. Cathy, the Bible was his guidebook for life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Georgia, and taught Sunday School there for more than 50 years.

Cathy was the author of 5 books and received numerous honors and awards during his lifetime.  According to Forbes Magazine, Cathy had a net worth of $4.2 billion dollars in 2012.  Samuel Truett Cathy (March 14, 1921 – September 8, 2014) was called home to heaven at the age of 93.

    received in his new heavenly home.

    He was the so kind and generous! I will always be a patron of
    Chickfila! So far in my life, I have watched five generations of my own
    family walk threw that First Dwarf House door. God Bless You All and
