Annahita Parsan's Journey from Battered Wife in Iran to Christian Pastor in Sweden

Annahita Parsan fled Iran only to land in a Turkish prison, then to faith in Christ. | Image courtesy: cbn.com

As a young woman in a Muslim culture, Annahita Parsan was powerless and insignificant. Her only hope was that she might one day find a good husband, and she did. But he died suddenly in an accident, and then she found herself trapped in a second marriage so violent, she expected to die.

She told us that during her abuse, “I didn’t know anything. It was darkness. It was a really bad life.” No one would have thought a Muslim woman in Iran who was simply trying to stay alive in an abusive marriage in Iran would one day lead two churches in Sweden, bring more than a thousand former Muslims to Christ, and be invited to speak before the Queen of Sweden.

Beaten Severely By Husband in Abusive Marriage

And although she writes about the abuse in her book, Stranger No More, Parsan doesn’t like to talk about it now.  Parsan admits being beaten with a shovel by her then-husband. As a battered wife, with bruises and cuts all over her body, Parsan eventually tried to kill herself with pills, but she survived.

Annahita Parsan’s journey to Christ and across two continents is the stuff of Hollywood movies, one that would include several brushes with death.  Parsan, her husband and her children fled Iran through the mountains to Turkey in 1984, where she and Roksana faced more danger, before landing in a Turkish prison. |  See the full story here… www1.cbn.com

Stranger No More (Book) by Annahita Parsan

Stranger No More is the remarkable true story of Annahita’s path from oppression to the life-changing hope of Jesus. Fleeing Iran across the mountains into Turkey, she spent months in the terrifying Agri prison before a miraculous release and flight to Europe, where she and her two children knelt in a church and prayed, “God, from this day on we are Christians.”

Filled with unthinkable circumstances, miraculous rescues, and the quietly constant voice of Jesus, He Saved Me leads readers deep into the heart of God and draws them toward the same call that Annahita heeds today: using her past to save others from theirs. | Learn more…
