Bethel University Students Can De-Stress With 'Kitten Therapy' During Final Exams

“Research shows that petting an animal lowers your blood pressure. It helps your body release a relaxation hormone and reduce levels of stress hormones. If we can provide animals, which consequently lower students’ stress levels, then they are better able to demonstrate their knowledge about a particular subject,” says Rachel Kennedy, Director of the Bethel University Center for Academic Success.

Kennedy explains, “With the stress levels involved in finishing the semester, both in terms of final exams, as well as papers, projects and presentations coming due, it helps bring a little positivity to these last few days for our students.”
