Carol asks…

Is the Christian definition of salvation different from the word applied in a non christian way?

the word salvation means to save-but I think in Christianity it implies more.

Cee Harmon answers:

For example, in Wicca (non-Christian belief system), the entire concept of salvation is nonexistent. All people have access to the Divine, and there is no “original sin” that needs to be forgiven. To put it in Christian terms, our sin has separated us from God, and the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Biblical salvation refers to our deliverance from the consequence of sin and therefore involves the removal of sin.

This involves repentance, a changing of mind about sin and our Lord Jesus Christ, and calling on the name of the Lord (Romans 10:9-10).  Check out this Prayer of Salvation by Sid Roth.
