Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries: In this video, Peter Short explains how the Detroit Rescue Mission helped him in many ways. According to Mr. Short, “I was homeless, I came here – I was just standing on a shelter for quite some time.”
“I was addicted to cocaine and I just decided to give it up and came here and asked for help. I went for treatment and came back and they turned this into housing. Things now are working out great and I go to high school. They helped me just do things in life.”
About The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries
The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries was founded in 1909 by Minister David C. Stucky as the Detroit City Rescue Mission. They began as a soup kitchen that provided church services, food, clothing, and shelter for the homeless and downtrodden.
Their main mission at DRMM is to find permanent solutions for the disheartened and disadvantaged so that they can look to the future and not look back at their past. Since their beginning, they have rebuilt hundreds of thousands of lives destroyed by addiction, homelessness and poverty.
About The Lighthouse Food Bank
The Lighthouse Food Bank is a community food pantry that was recently acquired and is operated by Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM). The Lighthouse has been helping struggling families and individuals since 1984.
In addition to emergency food services, the center offers help and hope to people who are in need through a variety of programs and services.
