Dr. Mercola references research from 1925 that found that our bodies produce 80 – 90 percent of it’s own cholesterol and the diet itself is relatively unimportant.  He goes on to say that the majority of physicians and health experts don’t realize this today even though it was learned about 100 years ago.

    I never bought into the cholesterol hype because we are sicker now than we were before all this reduction in cholesterol started. Based on that I knew something was awry.

    Thanks for your good information… I was surprised to see you on the Dr. Oz show only because Dr Oz primarily says cholesterol is bad and you happen to be on the opposite end of the spectrum.
    Been on a high fat diet for half my life plenty of coconut oil, butter and raw milk always knew that the cholesterol theory was garbage.

    a no carb diet is working for me!!!!! i was vegan for 3 years and got sicker raw for 3 months, and finally my skin cleared and im healing slowly eating kefir- bone broth- lean meat and 50% vegtables. coconut or cultered butter only for oils.check out scd diet also the doc.fathead free on here.

    In nursing school I was taught about the dangers of cholesterol. I believed it. Why would I have questioned my professors who I devoted my trust to? My future depended on their guidance. Now I look back and wonder. Thanks to people like Dr. Mercola I have been an advocate for proper health for my family. I work in a geriatric setting. Almost everyone is on a statin and low fat diets.

    As per my knowledge Cholesterol is recycled. The liver excretes it in a non-esterified form (via bile) into the digestive tract. Typically about 50% of the excreted cholesterol is reabsorbed by the small bowel back into the bloodstream.
