Donald Trump inauguration: The 45th US president sworn in

Thousands of Trump supporters who traveled across the country lined the streets to witness the occasion.  The moment marks the end of an improbable journey for the property tycoon after a campaign marked by controversy.

Mr. Trump was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts on the steps of the US Capitol in Washington. President Barack Obama shook hands with each member of the Trump family before the ceremony.

Thousands of police officers have been deployed and many crowd barriers set up as part of a vast security operation ahead of the inauguration.  Continue reading…bbc.com
