Jimm – A Hot Meal Was The Start Toward A New Life | Portland Rescue Mission
“I lived out of the back of a pickup truck for about nine months,” Jimm recalls. “I was hungry, felt weak and depressed… it was painful.” A hot meal was just the start toward new life for Jimm.
“I’d lost my wife and daughter, I couldn’t keep a job… Even the medical detox center wouldn’t take me in and help me get recovery. I knew I needed help.”
Rejection and despair were all too common to Jimm, but when he came to Portland Rescue Mission, things seemed different. “They were genuinely concerned about me,” he says. “The Mission helped me feel like a person again. I’ve built healthy relationships with other people, and I have a personal relationship with God.”
