The Salvation Army Mexico

Salvation Army Mexico:  In 1934, a group known as the Salvation Patrol was commenced in Mexico by Alejandro Guzmán. In October 1937, he was presented with a flag by General Evangeline Booth at the USA Southern Territory Congress in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Salvation Patrol then became absorbed into the international Salvation Army, operating under the supervision of DHQ in Dallas, Texas, later becoming part of the Latin America North Territory. On 1 September 1998 it was made a command in its own right and, on 1 October 2001, it became a territory.

Mexico is the third-largest Latin American country. It is home to more than 110 million people. Although about 88 percent consider themselves Catholic, most are only culturally Catholic, with about 10 percent attending church regularly.

Just over 8 percent are evangelical Christians. There is increasing freedom for ministry in the country as government officials are more open to evangelical work as a counter to the seemingly insolvable problems that plague many areas of the country.

Our vision is to transform communities in Mexico through leading people into a right relationship with Christ and planting churches that reproduce and impact their communities. Our goal is to empower the national church to grow and multiply.
