President Barack Obama Launches My Brother’s Keeper Alliance

President Barack Obama is relaunching his “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative into a non-profit foundation.  This initiative was created in 2014 after Trayvon Martin’s killing with a goal of trying to help supporting and empowering young minority men in often poor neighborhoods across the United States.   According to White House officials, President Obama will use the foundation as context to speak to the Baltimore Riots 2015 and the broader systemic issues that are still in so many neighborhoods across the country.   Video Source:  CNN — Obama’s My Bother’s Keeper Initiative

In a speech from the campus of Lehman College in the Bronx, New York, President Obama said, “That sense of unfairness, powerlessness, people not hearing their voices — that’s helped fuel some of the protests that we’ve seen in places like Baltimore, and Ferguson, and right here in New York.”
