According to Dr. Eric Berg, potassium is the most difficult electrolyte to get from your diet. He discusses the importance of potassium and why your heart, your fluid, your energy, your nutrients in and out of the cell is dependent on the sodium and potassium pump.
Hormones are produced in a complex process, but depend on beneficial fats and cholesterol, so lack of these important dietary factors can cause hormone problems simply because the body doesn’t have the building blocks to make them.
Dr. Eric Berg talks about Recommended Daily Allowances (RDAs) and the possible factors that could increase the need for these nutrients. RDA is a bare minimum requirement to prevent a deficiency diseases. He also talks about the list of nutrient dense foods and the less/not that nutrient dense foods.
Factors that increase the need for nutrients: massive stress, infection, injury, age andpoor digestion.
