Guatemala Volcano CI | Cross International

San Miguel de los Lotes was the only home Julio Morazán has ever known. Each day, he went to work on the coffee plantations. Each night, he returned to the simple house he had built. His family didn’t have much, but they did have each other and a place to call their own.

In what seemed like an instant, so much was gone – his work, his home and 12 members of his family. Julio, his wife and their two daughters barely escaped, but their world is now buried beneath a thick layer of volcanic ash. Now, he and thousands of his neighbors are living in crowded shelters, grieving their losses and fearful about their fate.

We cannot bring back their loved ones… but we can restore their dignity.
