Tennessee: Thanksgiving Meals for Homeless Destroyed In Memphis Church Fire
Elevate Christian Network :: News and Events
Blessed Trinity Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee hopes they’ll still be able to go forward with their plans after a Thursday night fire destroyed supplies for their annual Thanksgiving meal for the homeless.
Church Plans to Continue Thanksgiving Meals
This year, they also planned to give away 20 food baskets to families in need, which were also destroyed by the fire. Bishop Kenneth Buntyn, the church’s pastor, said he wants to continue with the giveaway and meals, but will have to get new supplies.
There were no injuries in the fire that severely damaged the church. “We are seeking to get materials and rebuild it and remain here, if the Lord says the same,” Buntyn said. “I just feel that God has not left us since we’ve been here. The Scripture says all things work for the good of those who know the Lord.”
Damage is estimated at $70,000 for the church building and $30,000 for its contents, according to the Memphis Fire Department. The department responded to the fire on a church building on S. Wellington Street Thursday night.
The fire was caused by a furnace that malfunctioned on the two story building’s first floor, according to the department. | See the full story here… commercialappeal.com
