of environment of praise and worship that you’d be pleased to dwell among us the Lord let your spirit and power rest upon us and then you find joy in our praise and in our worship we love you we praise you we glorify your name and when you rest with us – Lord even as Martha and Mary and Lazarus received great miracles when you rested in their own rest in our lives and will be healed and delivered and set free rest in us the Lord and miracle will take place rest enough and will defeat every enemy that comes against us in the name of Jesus we pray thank remain standing zest for a moment welcome to each and every one of you to the house of the Lord I’m overjoyed to worship the Lord with you and to feel his presence and his power in this room even now I thank God for you and I thank God for all who visit with us and pray that the Lord will minister to your hearts as we share with him from the word and in worship or to return with me praise to the Gospel of Matthew chapter 18 verse 21 the Gospel of Matthew 18 and verse 21 then Peter came to him and said Lord how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him up to seven times and Jesus said I do not say to you up to seven times but up to seventy times seven then in verse 23 he told a parable therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants and when he had began to settle accounts one was brought to him who owed ten thousand talents but as he was not able to pay his master commanded that he be sold with his wife and children all that he had and that payment should be made the servant therefore fell down before him saying master have patience with me that I will pay you all then the master of that servant was moved with compassion released him and forgave him the debt but that servant went out and found one of his fellow-servants called him a hundred denarii and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat saying pay me whatever you owe so his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him saying have patience with me and I will pay you all but he would not but with and threw him into prison till he had paid the debt and then his fellow servants saw what had been done they were very aggrieved and came and told their master all that had been done then his master after he had called him said to him you wicked servant i forgave you all that debt because you begged me should you not also had compassion on your fellow servant just as I had pity on you and his master was angry and delivered him to the torturers that they should that he should pay all that was due him so my Heavenly Father also will do to you each of you from his heart does not forgive his brother his trespass say this word after me forgiveness said once again forgiveness that’s the focus for our word today forgiveness be seated according to the standards of the Jewish teachers Peter was being very very generous until he said seven times the rabbi’s taught that a man must forgive his brother three times and Peter was being very generous in his mind when he suggested seven times because Jesus had informed the disciples that their righteousness had to exceed the righteousness of the scribes and the Pharisees Peter felt that a person could be forgiven seven times and then with the eighth offense he could knock his fellow servant off baseball has set the limit on American forgiveness strike one strike two strike three you’re out for a few people just one look at you and before you’ve even gotten to the plate they strike you off and out a man and his wife were riding in a wagon pulled by a mule as they went down the road a little animal ran across the street it scared the mule and the mule reared up and jostled those who were in the wagon the farmer said that’s one they were a little bit further noose awesome grass on the side of the road and was all grid you leaned off the road trying to eat some grass that he went along and farmer dirkly reins and pulled him up and straightened out his pathway and said now that’s true then they were a little further in the new salt water and was thirsty and wanted to get some modern the farmer said that’s three and he shot them you and there’s a wife sitting beside him said you old fool you killed a mule we don’t have anywhere to get home it’s the only meal we had you and your temper you’re crazy the farmer looked at her and said that’s one that’s why some people not only do not forgive they find the strangest things to be unforgiving about and to be mad about sometimes they’re unforgiving of a person’s inability the person is expected to operate beyond their level of capacity capability and they just can’t do it listen if a person is doing the best he can don’t get mad at him help him to do better if you can but sometimes persons are not forgiving because they are expected to do something they can’t do but then again some are unforgiving for the fact that one does not come up to their unrealistic expectations but you are expecting of them is something that they cannot have no reason to abide by maybe what you’re asking them to do what’s unfair maybe it was immoral but your expectations of him they will not come up to you wanted them to fall in love with you but they didn’t don’t get mad at them they’re not obligated to fall in love with you maybe that you don’t look like the person they want to fall in love but you’re angry at them because they wouldn’t make a loan that they didn’t feel obligated to me hallelujah you’re unhappy and unforgiving of them another reason for inappropriate unforgiveness is that you manage people that doesn’t have don’t don’t have anything to do with you what they did you were not involved in it was between them and somebody else and then somebody else ago deal with it why should you get mad you’re sitting in front of the television and stuff is happening on TV and it’s a fictional story one person is mistreating another and you get mad and upset and you don’t have a thing to do it they don’t even know you’re looking at the television don’t get mad about that then some people are mad because what they thought would happen if a person had a chance why do you hate her what are you mad at her about well I just know what she’d do to me if she had a chance many times they resent people and do not forgive them but what they are not guilty of they didn’t do anything you just heard a rumor a story and you mad at them and you’ve been mad for years but if you knew the truth they didn’t do what you thought they did anyhow are y’all hearing me today if the truth would be known there would be no foundation for your resentment I thought Jesus responded to Peters proposal and he responded to Peters question by saying no not 7 times 490 times 70 times 7 in other words Jesus said to Peter always forgive no matter how many times you are mistreated I understand that Jesus is not saying that you have to repeatedly expose yourself to abusive resentful mistreatment I deliberately make yourself accessible to folk who have no other habit and the inclination of taking advantage of you but I’m saying that you should have a loving and forgiving spirit even if you have to avoid the person stay out of their way still have a loving spirit and a forgiving spirit you might have to love him from across the street Hey hi good to see you see you later are you with me on today in the story contained in the text the servant old the King ten thousand talents these talents were taken in today’s money and gold the amount that he owed was two hundred and ninety million dollars to the king that was a huge debt and the King first decided if he will pay me I’m going to have him sold into slavery along with his family and all his possessions so that I can regain what is though to me but the servant begged him and fell down before him ask for more time promising I will pay the entire debt verse 27 says and the Lord of that servant was moved with compassion loosed him and forgave him the debt not most biblical teachers agree that this was an impossible amount of money to pay while a few claim that if he had a large area of authority and responsibility under his control he might have been able to raise enough money to pay the debt but the fact is the King forgave him of that debt even saying you don’t really even have to pay me back I’m forgiving hold it the king in this story told by Jesus represents God who is a forgiving God is anybody new God is a forgiving God the amaya 9 and 17 the Bible says thou art a god ready to pardon gracious and merciful and in Psalm 86 15,000 are good ready to forgive and plenteous in mercy upon all who would call upon you I’m so glad that we serve a God who is a forgiving God if you come to him in humility asking for forgiveness repeating for the wrong you’ve done God will extend forgiveness to you for Daniel 9 and 9 says but to the Lord belong mercy and forgiveness though we have rebelled against him and God said in 2nd chronicles 7 and 14 if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from heaven I’ll forgive their sin I will heal their land wouldn’t it be wonderful to know that whatever you’ve done however you behaved the to when you come to God and that’s forgiveness you can find forgiveness but it not be wonderful to know that all your sins are forgiven and erased from the records of history wouldn’t it be wonderful to know that you have a clean slate before God not just come by one of the things I want to say to you today is my brother my sister you can have a clean slate be totally innocent standing before the righteous god of the universe so the Bible says in first John 1:9 if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness my brother my sister the glorious news of the day is that you can be cleansed from all unrighteousness and forgiven for any sin that might ever have been in your life come on clap your hands and praise God to forgive is to lift away or to send away one sin it is to be gracious is to extend undeserved kindness and undeserved love you deserve to be punished you deserve to be rejected you deserve to be condemned but because of your request for forgiveness the God of mercy through Jesus Christ extends forgiveness to you on today clap your hands and praise God for forgiveness [Music] hallelujah there’s a difference between divine forgiveness and human forgiveness human forgiveness means the remission of a penalty that you deserve prayer as divine forgiveness follows the execution of the penalty human forgiveness I just forgive you divine forgiveness is that there must be a killer pay for your wrong and the penalty was Jesus Christ who came to earth and died for our sins and filth and God forgives us he forgives us because of Jesus Christ let’s clap our hands and praise God for Jesus that’s a Paul said in Ephesians 4 and 32 be kind one to another tender-hearted forgiving one another even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you God forgives you but if it gives you for the sake of Christ because of Christ who died for you sin is not some small matter with God Jesus had to die for this reason Jesus Christ came to the earth that he might take away the sins of the world sin separates us from God sin hides the face of God but God through Jesus Christ extends to us forgiveness I say look at Jesus and he said he was wounded for our transgressions he was bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with His stripes we are healed all we like sheep have gone astray the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all jesus paid it all all to him I owe sin had left a crimson stain but he washed it wider than snow all the blood washed children of God clap your hands and praise God for salvation you can have peace with God through Jesus Christ all discord all decision between you and God can be raised Jesus died for your sins you can be forgiven and cleanse from your sin as you seek Him as you asked his forgiveness as you pray to him he will hear your prayer but whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved so let me say that since God has forgiven you since God has had mercy on you you ought to have mercy on the folk who are around you since God has forgiven you you ought be a forgiving person so many is forgiven for bask in the guilt of yesteryear and yesterday but since you are forgiven no no should you be willing to forgive others you ought to forgive your self once you ask God for forgiveness it’s Donny cast your sins and to a thief or get foolish and he places there are no fishing sign so nobody can go and fish your sins up before you again later your neighbor when God forgives you you are forgiven and since God forgave you forgive yourself if God forgave you thank God part believe God that it’s done stop lacerating and beating on yourself and basking in regret and resentment he forgave you and when the devil brings it up again devil you late I’ve already been forgiven for that and God has taken the own to another level of life clap your hands and praise God [Applause] [Music] can I preach today hallelujah since you are forgiven you should be a forgiving person the servant in the text was forgiven but he was not forgiving he found a man who owed him the equivalent of only seventeen dollars and he grabbed that man by the throat and he demanded pay me but you owe me the man asked him said I owe you on the seventeen dollars if you give me some time I will pay it I’ll get the money I’ll give you your money back but he refused I’m not going to wait he threw a man that old him seventeen dollars in jail promising that when you pay me I might let you out of jail he owed the master 290 million and the master forgave it but the one that owed him 17 he had the man thrown in prison over $17 the King was around one day and he heard the servants talking it’s the same but he did to his fellow servant he’d been forgiven 290 million and he put his fellow servant that old him in told him seventeen dollars in jail because he would not pay and the king was in since he was overwhelmed by anger he called that servant before him and in matthew 18 and verse 32 he said i forgave you because you begged me shouldn’t you have had compassion on your fellow servant the king had that wicked servant tortured turn him over to the torturers and then hold him in jail until he pays me my two hundred and ninety million dollars back and that was in jail forever because he had no way of paying but here you know and jesus said God will do the same thing to you if you do not forgive those who owe you and those whom you are offended about if you don’t forgive them I’m not gonna forgive you unforgiveness hinders God’s forgiveness of our sins because God wants us to be forgiving in order to be forgiven Matthew 6:14 if you will give men their trespasses your heavenly Father will forgive you but if you do not forgive me in their trespasses neither will your Father in heaven forgive you your trespasses forgiveness not only hinders God’s forgiveness but it hinders our prayers for mark 11 jesus said when you stand praying forgive unforgiveness represents an attitude that’s condemned by Jesus Christ by Matthew six and twelve Jesus what our attitude to be like this when you pray forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors and our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us unforgiveness hinders the unity and the work of the church even if unforgiveness and animosity is in the world that I’ll not be in the church will the love to god we’re dealing with people whom God loves and when you deal with God people whom God loves God’s not gonna bless you if you mistreat those whom God loves let’s look at this unforgiving person just for a moment an unforgiving person is a person overwhelmed by self-pity as a sense of mistreatment a feeling of mistreatment he feels sorry for himself and so if anything goes wrong he’s always the wrong one the offended one he has a spirit of self-pity and therefore if he’s not forgiven he does not feel that others should be forgiven also an unforgiving person is a resentful person resentment requires emotional and mental energy and expenditure it takes energy to be mad and it makes you sick to be a negative hostile person and if you want to get over that negative hostile spirit in that acid that is bubbling up in your spirit and then your soul you’re gonna have to learn how to forgive and get rid of the anger look at your neighbor and say get rid of the anger an unforgiving person is self-centered an unforgiving person is alienated and isolated because people are not perfect and people will always do something that might annoy you but you’ve got to be a forgiving person if you want to have peace of mind upon the earth and an unforgiving person is happy person and one who has an adversarial relationship with people if you want to have friends you’ve got to first show yourself to be friendly but if you’re resentful that’s what you’re going to get resentment it’s easier to forgive come on tell your neighbor it’s easier to forgive are y’all still with me today but a forgiving person is merciful jesus said be merciful even as your father is merciful a forgiving person does not dwell on the wrongs that are done yes people are going to do you wrong but you’ve got two choices to think about the wrong that people did or to focus on the good that others might have brought into your life are the good things that happen to you after the praise God for good things and worry about bad things that might come my way a forgiving person is a person who loves and if you love people you so desires of having good relationships with them and good experiences with them that you’re willing to move any hostility a bitterness out of the way so that you can reach out a forgiving person loves a forgiving person has a strong sense that I’m gonna be alright I’ve got confidences I’ve got God in my life and the Bible says when a man’s ways please the Lord he’ll make even his enemies to be at peace with him I know God’s gonna take care of me I’m not worried about it so I’m not gonna spend my time worried about but you have done to me i’ma find some folks that love me some folks that love the Lord that’s who I’m gonna hang out with that’s what I’m gonna spend my time with a forgiving person is a giving person and a forgiving person is like God because God is the God who is willing and ready to forgive come on clap your hands and praise God a forgiving person is in real good company come on look at your name it’s a name if you’re a forgiving person you’re in good company Jesus was a forgiving person and he prayed for those that crucified Him but he was hanging on the cross he said Father forgive them for they know not what they’re doing father they’re doing me wrong they’re hurting me but father I love you and I love them enough to ask that you would not lay this sin to their charge I pray that you will forgive them they don’t know exactly what they’re doing and then Stephen you’re in his company but he can Stephen pray for those that stoned him and in acts 7 and 60/60 he said lord lay not this sin to their charge and so if you a forgiving person you’re in the presence of Jesus and you’re in the crowd with Stephen but also if you are a forgiving person you’re in the group with the Apostle Paul papaw was deserted by everybody that was around him but in in 2nd Timothy 4 and 16 Paul said at my first answer all the men forsook me I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge and so powerful game Stephen 4-game Jesus forgave and we need to forgive if we want to get on with our life if you have not forgiven you’re stuck where you are if you have not forgiven your chosen thoughts and an atmosphere that’s going to poison you for unforgiveness is like an acid that eats away at your inside and you’re always worried about the one that you’re not forgiven and as a matter of fact you give the one you don’t forgive more attention then you give the one whom you has not oh yes you do I heard a story about a lady that hated me apparently she was sitting in one of our services and she saw something in me that she disliked and she went away for months and finally she came back to the church and said I thought I would tell you why I left your church one day I was sitting in the audience you were sitting on the platform and you looked at me funny [Music] and I said lady I don’t remember looking at you at all let alone looking at you funny maybe I was worried about something that was a problem in the church it may be that I was worried about someone who had passed away or someone who had lost a loved one maybe that I was worried about some financial condition in the life of the church and I looked funny but I was not looking at you funny but this lady has been going on for months and even for years worried about the fact that I had looked at her funny when in truth I had not looked at her at all she could not get on to the next step she cannot move on to the next level because there was unforgiveness in her heart and was worrying about herself she was worried about me and the fact that I looked at her funny but child of God it’s time for you to move on to come on tell your neighbor neighbor or neighbor it’s time for us to move on to the next level it’s time to lay aside every weight and the sin that does so easily will set and run with patience the race that is set before us looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith it’s time to take your eyes off of the folk that don’t like you and put your eyes on Jesus and began to go higher and higher and higher every day somebody praise the Lord praise yes if we wanna get on with the business of life we need to forgive we need to let it go I know they hurt you let it go I know they hate you let it go I know they’re against you let it go hold on to Jesus please Jesus for when a man’s weight please the Lord he’ll make even his enemies be at peace with him when the man reigns please the Lord and you love the enemy you’ll make an enemy throw the spear he calls the fire on his head when you’re loving he won’t be able to send it but child of God you rise above your situation you’ll find peace and joy come on and help me praise Him [Music] crazy crazy hallelujah to forgive is a sign of strength I’m not so devastated by what was done but I can’t forgive and move on I’m stronger than one is defeated and who gives up that’s as far as the fence I take no note of it I just walk in the power of Almighty God Lord lift me up and let me stand by faith on heaven’s table land a higher plane and I have found Lord plant my feet on higher ground I said I can do all things through Christ that’s risen it’s me I know you were hurt but put your hand in God’s name and say Lord I receive your strength I receive your power you’ll be so powerful you can look your enemy in the eye and say I forgive you and I rise above what you’ve done to me come on and praise haleluya sometimes you need to just make a list other people who have offended you make a list of the people that you’re not forgiving because you’re not going to be able to move on to the next level until you forgiving them until you’ve erased it from your heart and from your mind if you ask God to help you he will forgive you come boldly to the throne of grace and find mercy and grace to help in the time of need tell you leave a God will help you with your hurt tell somebody God will help you with your hurt yes yes every once in a while you’re a person this if somebody is hurt you and they’re on the list take that list tear it up and throw it away here goes the hurt here goes the offense here goes the hatred here goes the animosity everybody stand up in the house of God you need to be rich that hurt you need to be rid of that animosity that negativism in the name of jesus said in the name of jesus i take ever hurt in the name of jesus i take every offense in the name of Jesus everything that everybody has done I know it was wrong but I can’t go higher until I forgive it and let it go roll it up hold it in your hand lift that right hand squeeze that right hand all of the hurt all of the offense all of the pain in the name of Jesus I throw it on the altar I let it go I walk away from it come on in the name of Jesus let it go and pray [Applause] hallelujah [Music] when you let it go God says when you let your own faces go I’ll let your seat go but unless you let her sins go are his sins go I’m not gonna let your sins go but if you forgive them I’ll forgive you and when we forgive we can come before the Lord and say thank you for forgiving me thank you for another chance thank you but I’m washed in your blood I’m on my way to heaven come on and praise yes yes yes praise you thank you for having mercy oh thank you turning my life around praise you thank the Lord thank the Lord thank the Lord thank you [Applause] I feel the power of the Lord in this place I feel God extending mercy some of you have come to the point that that which has harassed you and bothered you and hurt you and wounded you you gonna rise out of it above it and you’ll have victory over it in the name of Jesus come on praise unforgiveness to dominate my life but dear Lord having heard your word I release it in the name of Jesus thank you for giving me strength and power to rise above it I am free of unforgiveness I forgive all who have ever hurt me and I thank you Lord come on I thank you I thank you thank you not all over the road riding [Music] [Applause] tell two people I’m free abandon forgiveness I’m released from hatred in my heart thank the Lord thank the Lord thank the Lord God forgives us and he wants us to forgive others someone in this room needs to experience the forgiveness of the Lord someone needs to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior need to give your life to the one that died for your sins if you’re here today I preached from my heart today I believe that somebody’s gonna be released that they’ll never ever be the same again you’re willing to give your life to the Lord Jesus if you ask him to know what i wronged you I’ve rejected you have disobeyed you and even if you have not done all of those things if you’ve lived on this earth you thought thoughts and you’ve omitted to do things that the Lord would have you to do and the Bible says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God but he would say Lord I want forgiveness and mercy in my life every head is bowed every eye is closed it was the Lord be merciful to me if that hand and hold it high Lord forgive me have mercy on me that maybe the person that had had me to be in the name of the Lord Jesus lift that hand if it’s you every head bowed every eye rose thank you the Lord for your word thank you for your forgiveness thank you for your mercy thank you for those who come to the altar already for those who in the audience I praise you the Lord that you’ve extended mercy to us you extended forgiveness to us we receive it so there’s my people that are called by my name will humble themselves and pray I think their sin and ask for my forgiveness I’d have mercy upon them and will forgive benefits at all cost money you stand with us and you share and you sacrifice and give but able with Angelus to do the work that it is doing I want everybody to prepare to give gonna ask 100 of you to give $100 in the offering today you know you are you know God has enabled you and prepared you for this day and you wondered what that extra hundred dollars of the spark is for the work of the Lord
