United States Provides More Humanitarian Aid for the Iraq Crisis

The United States Government has now provided more than $1.4 billion in humanitarian assistance for the Iraq crisis since fiscal year 2014. On Thursday, July 13, 2017, the U.S. announced more than $119 million in additional humanitarian assistance for the people of Iraq.
Additional Emergency Humanitarian Aid
With this new assistance, the United States is providing additional emergency food and nutrition assistance, safe drinking water, hygiene kits, improved sanitation, emergency shelter, and protection for Iraqis who have been displaced. We are also providing life-saving medical care, including ambulances, medicine, and continued support for three field hospitals that are treating trauma patients.

Rebuilding Iraq After the Defeat of ISIS in Mosul – Sarah Jones
The US says ISIS is on an “irreversible and lasting path to defeat.” And the U.S. Agency for International Development has announced an additional $119 million in humanitarian assistance to Iraq. This brings the total aid from Washington over the past three years to more than $1.4 billion. With victory declared in Mosul, discussions have begun on how to reconstruct and stabilize Iraq.
On Thursday all 72 members of the U-S led anti-ISIS coalition commenced a three-day meeting to discuss the path towards reconstruction and stabilization in Iraq. But there’s a difference between rebuilding infrastructure and establishing stability in a country that’s been torn by war, terrorism and a now the legacy of a divisive ideology.
