U.S. Virgin Islands: The humanitarian mission provided the islands with an FAA mobile air traffic control tower with an instrument landing system and FAA air traffic controllers. Additionally, the mission delivered 13,000 pounds of food and water.
“This mission is providing humanitarian support to areas in the Virgin Islands affected by multiple hurricanes,” said U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Mark Darnell, 14th AS loadmaster. “Missions like this one are what I signed up for. Its an incredible feeling to bring relief to people in need.”

Hurricane Maria: This is the fifth time on record that Dominica has taken a direct hit from a hurricane, but never has it faced a storm of such ferocity and strength. The hurricane brought life in Dominica to a standstill.
The storm caused widespread damage and destruction in Dominica, one of the poorest countries in the Eastern Caribbean. On 25 September, the UN estimated that the entire population suffered direct damage to housing and livelihoods.

According to a humanitarian update issued by the office, as of 11:00 AM local time, 14 August, at least 66 people – including children – have been killed, 35 are missing, and many have been displaced following large-scale flooding and landslides in the wake of the worst rains to strike Nepal in 15 years.
The disaster comes at a time when the landlocked Asian nation was struggling to recover from the 2015 earthquakes. Some five of the 27 affected districts are also earthquake-affected, while four of them were hit by floods a year prior, the update mentioned.
