About Billy Blanks
He is a fitness expert, martial artist, actor, and the inventor of the Tae Bo exercise program. He used components of his martial arts and boxing training to form this exercise program. Billy developed this fitness program in his basement while listening to the “Rocky” movie soundtrack.
His first classes were offered in Boston, Massachusetts in 1982. After the launch of his Tae Bo infomercials and videos in the 1990’s, the program became a huge hit in the fitness world. These high-intensity workout program went on to sell more than 500 million copies worldwide.
Blanks has appeared on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) and released a special line of Tae Bo workouts called the “Believer’s” series that includes motivational prayers and other components for Christians.

Exercise & Fitness Tips
- If you want to increase your fat-burning potential, it is best to exercise early in the morning. Exercising when you wake up, kicks your metabolism into overdrive and allows you to stay energized all day. The food you eat will be broken down more efficiently and you are far less likely to store body fat, after morning workouts.
- A really good way to get fit is to join a boxing gym. Boxers are some of the most fit athletes in the world and by joining a boxing gym, you’ll have access to all of the resources they have. Hitting a speed bag is just one of the things you can do.
- Kickboxing is a great way to mix up your regular workout routine. By combining the kicks from karate and the punches from boxing, it is a great way to boost endurance and tone your body at the same time. Doing crunches outside of the class will boost the effects that kickboxing has on your core strength as well.
